From Light to Dark - Akiko Hirai

Taste Contemporary presented From Light to Dark; a solo exhibition of work by Akiko Hirai at the gallery from 23 March to 28 April 2023. With an emphasis on the Japanese tradition of allowing the clay to reveal how it wants to be fired, Akiko Hirai’s work focuses on the interaction between object and viewer, allowing the viewer to interpret the work in their own way. 

Internationally acclaimed for her expressive interpretation of the Moon Jar, Akiko Hirai’s work can be found in a number of prestigious collections.
